You must score at least 80%. On a 40-question test, that means answering at least 32 questions correctly.
How much does the Kentucky knowledge test cost?
Kentucky does not list a separate standard written-test fee. After passing the required tests, a standard learner’s permit costs $15, while a REAL ID permit costs $18.
Can I take the Kentucky permit test online?
No. You can complete a pre-application online, but written permit testing must be scheduled through the Kentucky State Police and completed through KSP.
What should I bring to the Kentucky KSP office?
First-time applicants should bring proof of identity, proof of their Social Security number and proof of Kentucky residency. Applicants under 18 must also bring a School Compliance Verification Form and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can sign the application. Two proofs of residency are required when applying for a REAL ID.
