How many questions are on the real Florida permit test?
The Florida Class E Knowledge Exam has 50 multiple-choice questions covering Florida traffic laws, safe driving practices, and traffic controls.
What score do I need to pass?
You need to answer 40 questions correctly out of 50, which is an 80% passing score.
How much does the Florida knowledge test cost?
The learner’s license cost is $48. A $6.25 service fee may apply for driver license transactions completed at a tax collector office.
Can I take the Florida permit test online?
Yes, applicants under 18 can take the Class E Knowledge Exam online through approved third-party administrators. The exam can also be taken in person at a service center, or through an approved high-school DELAP program.
What should I bring to the Florida DMV office?
Bring proof of identity, proof of Social Security number, and proof of residential address. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the required parental consent form. If you took the Class E Knowledge Exam online, bring the notarized Parent Proctoring Form if required. Florida teens under 18 must also provide proof of Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course completion unless they qualify for an exception.
What happens if I fail?
If you fail and need to retake the Class E Knowledge Exam, FLHSMV lists the re-testing cost as $10. A $6.25 service fee may apply at tax collector offices.
