How many questions are on the real New Jersey permit test?
The New Jersey general knowledge test contains 50 questions covering traffic laws, road signs, safe-driving practices and information from the New Jersey Driver Manual.
What score do I need to pass?
You must answer at least 40 of the 50 questions correctly, which is an 80% passing score.
How much does the New Jersey knowledge test cost?
There is no knowledge test fee listed. You must purchase the appropriate permit before scheduling the test. A student learner’s permit or automobile examination permit costs $10.
Can I take the New Jersey permit test online?
No. Applicants normally purchase a permit and schedule the knowledge test at an MVC driver testing center. Some 16-year-old applicants enrolled in approved driver education may take the test through their school or driving program.
What should I bring to the New Jersey MVC office?
Bring the documents required to satisfy New Jersey’s 6 Points of ID verification, together with the documents needed for your permit application. After purchasing the permit, schedule the knowledge test and bring your documents to the testing appointment. A vision test is also required.
What happens if I fail?
If you fail the New Jersey knowledge test, you must wait seven days before taking it again.
