How many questions are on the real Kansas permit test?
The Kansas knowledge test contains 25 questions covering Kansas traffic laws and road signs.

What score do I need to pass?

You must score at least 80%, which means answering at least 20 of the 25 questions correctly.

How much does the Kansas knowledge test cost?
The regular Kansas learner’s permit costs $10. Kansas’s fee chart also lists a $3 first-examination fee and a $1.50 in-office re-examination fee. The official KnowTo Drive online test currently costs $6.50 per attempt, with DMV credential fees collected separately.

Can I take the Kansas permit test online?

Yes. Kansas residents aged 14 or older can take the Class C knowledge test online through the official KnowTo Drive service. Applicants under 18 must register with a Kansas-resident parent or guardian. The test requires a desktop or laptop computer with a webcam and is available in English and Spanish. The online test has a 60-minute time limit. The in-office version is not timed.

What should I bring to the Kansas DMV office?
First-time applicants need proof of lawful presence and identity, proof of their Social Security number and two proofs of Kansas residential address. Bring legal name-change documentation when applicable. Applicants younger than 16 must have a parent or guardian present with photo identification, and applicants who completed driver education should bring their completion form.

What happens if I fail?
You may retake the Kansas knowledge test on the next working day. Applicants have four opportunities to pass. After a fourth failure, they must wait at least six months from the most recent failed examination before testing again.
